For those who would like a more private, personal time at La Paix before the Lavender Fair – this may be what you were looking for!
The morning workshop will begin with herbal tea in the shop and then an overview of culinary herbs growing at La Paix will be conducted with a walk and a talk by steward, Myra Bonhage-Hale. A booklet of culinary, medicinal and fragrant herbs, their propagation, cultivation and uses will be given to participants. Then back to the kitchen to see popular Chef Geoff Kraus’s demonstration.
Next, the gourmet luncheon will take place in the historic parlor at La Paix or plein air (under the umbrellas dotting the lawn) if the weather permits. After lunch a walk in the Feng Shui, Fragrant and Vegetable Garden will be conducted with an emphasis on medicinal and fragrant herbs. Various plants including basil and cuttings of Rosemary, lavender and thyme will be given each guest. A hands on demonstration of making pesto will have the group back in the kitchen and the day will end with a walk in the Silver Labyrinth.
A truly marvelous, luxurious and one-of-a-kind day at La Paix.
